Retirement Rewind #6: Merry Winter

Hey Stampers,

It's been a while since I did a Retirement Rewind post, so I decided to show you today my Door Prize for my December Stamp Club. The prize is ACTUALLY a stack of the awesome Frostwood Lodge DSP from last years Holiday Mini, which I am showcasing on this card as well. But the stamp set I decided to use is also a retired one, called Merry Winter (which I am not quite ready to part with yet haha). You know me and snowmen !! They are my kryptonite LOL. So, have a look at the cute card that my door prize recipient will recieve, along with a bunch of yummy Frostwood Lodge DSP !!

Isn't that just the sweetest !?!? There is lots of cool stuff going on in this card, but I am going to talk about the stamped image first. I used my Cherry Cobbler and Early Espresso markers to ink up my sleigh, then the little snowmen were stamped in Early Espresso. I then stamped them a few more times onto scrap Whisper White in the Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green and Marina Mist so I could cut out their  scarves and hats. These pieces were then attached with some 2 Way Glue. Simple and sweet !! I also stamped the cute heart on a scrap piece of Whisper White and punched it out with the 3/8" Circle from the Itty Bitty Punch Pack. I didn't want to screw up with the heart so decided it was easier to punch it and add it after LOL. This whole little scene was punched out with the 2-1/2" Circle Punch and layered onto a Garden Green scallop die cut from the Perfect Pennants Bigz Die with some Dimensionals. I sure do love the way that scallop works with the big circle punch. Just the perfect amount of cute little scallops peeking out !! LOL The little sentiment also comes from this stamp set, and that was punched out with the Large Oval Punch and layered onto the Scalloped Oval Punch. A few Rhinestones, and the stamped images were done !!

The background layer took a bit of work, but I think it turned out fantastic !! I embossed a piece of Whisper White with the (also sadly retired) Snowburst Embossing Folder. Then I took 6 strips of the Frostwood Lodge DSP cut at 1/2" wide and weaved them in a lattice pattern. It took a little bit of fiddling but I think it was totally worth it !! I made the lattice pattern before I stuck anything to the card, so when I was satisfied with the papers I stuck down the middle Birch Bark patterned piece, and then adhered the rest one at a time so the spacing was right. Don't you think it looks super cool !?!? I love it LOL

Well, thats my project for today !! Hope you enjoyed it, thanks a lot for dropping by today and Happy Stamping !!
