3D Star Christmas Ornaments

Hey Stampers,

We had such a great time at Stamp Club last night !! Nothing like taking a bit of time during this busy season to stamp and create with some friends. As a small "thank you" to my stamp club girls for a great 2012, I made them each one of these fun 3D Star Christmas Ornaments !! I am SO addicted to making them, and they are so quick and easy !! Take a look and tell me what you think !!

Aren't they so fun ?? I used the awesome Festival of Prints DSP to make them, and this is just a small sample of the ones I made. My tree in the family room is going to be covered with these cuties !! There is a PDF template that Stampin' Up! has provided for these stars (you can find it here). I made the smaller star of the two, but I bet the bigger one would be great as well !! Let mw give you more more in-depth instructions !!

I printed the PDF out on some computer paper, and cut out the star. I then adhered my template to the Festival of Prints DSP with a tiny bit of repositionable adhesive, and just cut around with my Paper Snips. So easy ! And I have been using the same template over and over. I just stick it inside my Festival of Prints stack and its good to go for the next time!

Here is what the star looks like when its all cut out. Then I take it over to my Simply Scored ...

Here is where the magic happens !! I scored down the middle first, and then scored from the point of each "arm" into the centre. These folds became the mountains (folded up). In between these mountains, the inside orders were folded into valleys (folded down). This makes the star into its cool 3D shape !! Easy hey ?? I love it !!

After I did all my folding, it was on to the decorating. I added a Glimmer Brad (or any large brad, like the In Color Printed Brads) to the middle of the stars and then used some Dazzling Details (in Silver, Cherry Cobbler or Diamond) all around the edges to give a bit of sparkle. I can't wait to see how t shimmers with the Christmas Tree lights !! Then using my 1/16" Handheld Circle Punch I added a small hole to the top and used some Bakers Twine as my ornament hanger. Worked perfectly !!

Well, thats my project for today !! I hope you liked it. Why don't you try and make some for yourself !! They would also look great hanging off of presents !! Thanks for stopping by today and Happy Stamping !!
