Thanksgiving Pumpkin Treat Holder

Hey Stampers !!

Happy Friday !! This is a LONG weekend here in Canada, yay Thanksgiving !! I actually have to work tomorrow, so its not a long weekend for ME ... but I still get Monday off and of course a nice big Turkey dinner !! Yummy !! It is starting to get very Fall-ish around here ... leaves changing, a cool nip in the air, the smell of wood fires burning ... and, of course, the arrival of MY favourite Fall item. The pumpkin !! I am serious. I would probably eat ANYTING that someone tells me there is pumpkin in. I love pumpkin loafs, muffins, cakes, drinks ... you name it ... pumpkin makes it better !! LOL So my project today celebrates that very awesome gourd ... the pumpkin !! Take a look !!

Sweet or what !?!? This little treat holder/bag thing is made with the awesome Scallop Circle die. I die cut 2 pieces of (what else) 5" square Pumpkin Pie cardstock. Then I scored a spot where I wanted my "pumpkin" to stand up (I scored at the 8 scallop mark) and folded it. Then the un-folded parts got embossed with the beautiful Lacy Brocade embossing folder. This would look great with any embossing folder (like the Striped one would be awesome) but I wanted a more "fancy" look so I broke out this brand new folder, which is becoming my go to texture lately. Then I had to make the "box" section. I took a piece of Pumpkin Pie measuring 10-1/2" and scored every 3-1/2" on the long side and then scored at 3/8" on both edge longways. Then I folded all my score lines and cut on the 3 scores into the 3/8" score. All the edges got Sticky Stripped and then the box was attached to the scallops !! If thats confusing, let me know. But its just your standard box. Hahahahaha.

The handle is made with the (sadly retired) Lace Ribbon Border punch in Chocolate Chip. Love this fancy touch !! And its the perfect thickness for the width of my box (see picture below). I then stamped the small leaf image from the Day of Gratitude stamp set in Old Olive ink (once in full strength, once in half strength ink) and cut them out with my snips. The Old Olive Scallop Dots ribbon was looped around the handle and secured with an Antique Brad. Love it !! The sentiment is from the (also sadly retired) Grateful Greetings stamp set; stamped in Pumpkin Pie, punched with the Large Oval punch and layered onto the Scallop Oval Punch in Chocolate Chip.

This is just a side view to show how wide the box is. It can sure hold a lot of treats !! I think this would be a great table favour at Thanksgiving, don't you ?? Or it could be decorated with a more "Hallowe'en" flair and given to Trick or Treaters !! So versatile.

Hope you liked my post today !! Thanks a lot for dropping by and Happy Stamping (and Thanksgiving !! LOL)
